About RankFootprint
RankFootprint is a Google Maps grid rank tracker for local businesses and the agencies that look after them. It answers one practical question: when someone nearby searches for your service, where does your business show up in the map results, and how does that change from one part of town to another?
What it does
A single rank check only tells you what one searcher in one spot sees. RankFootprint lays a grid of points over your service area, checks the map results for your chosen search phrase at each point, and colours the grid by your position. That makes strong areas, weak areas and gaps easy to see at a glance. Each report also includes plain-language tips on what to work on next, and agencies can send reports under their own branding.
Where the data comes from
Scan results come from SerpApi, a third-party API that retrieves Google Maps search results on our behalf. RankFootprint does not run its own scraper. Results reflect what Google showed at the time of each check, for that location and phrase, and can differ from what any individual person sees on their own phone.
How a scan works
- You pick a business, a search phrase and a centre point.
- You choose a grid size and radius (our free grid scan planner helps you size it).
- Each grid point is checked and your position in the map results is recorded.
- The grid is coloured by position, with tips based on the pattern. See how to read a rank grid.
What the results can and cannot tell you
A grid shows where you appear today. It does not guarantee future rankings, traffic or sales, and map results shift with time, device and searcher history. We explain why in why Maps rankings change across town. RankFootprint is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Google or SerpApi.
